THERAPEUTIC BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST/SCHOOL-BASED POSITION
Job Description
Evolve Academy of Medina, and Medina City Schools, are partnering with The Counseling Center of Wayne and Holmes Counties to hire a Therapeutic Behavioral Specialist (TBS) to join a multidisciplinary team supporting at-risk youth.
General Duties:
Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals comprised of other TBS staff plus a Licensed Clinical Therapist, and Medina City School educators, who are trained as intervention specialists. The TBS is responsible for collaborating with all team members to actively encourage and support the resilience of children and adolescents with possible emotional stressors, trauma induced behavior, or mental illness; and to assist educational staff at the Evolve Academy deliver the highest caliber instruction in both individual and group settings.
Working Characteristics:
- Assist in the collaboration around treatment planning, resource coordination, behavioral modification, and activity planning interventions in a classroom and school-based environment.
- Actively plan, instruct, model, and encourage students in behavioral techniques, social-emotional regulation, and self-management skills.
- Assist in the teaching and behavior management of the classroom by developing and implementing lesson plans and curriculum that are in line with IEP goals and objectives.
- Plan and organize daily activities to optimize treatment programs.
- Develop trusting, positive relationships among children and staff within the facility.
- Model sensitivity to racial, cultural, and developmental backgrounds of students and staff at all times and promote through words and actions respect for diversity and inclusion.
- Complete all documentation in a timely manner and comply with building safety standards, licensing regulations, and accreditation standards.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma (or equivalent) required, associate degree or higher preferred
- Experience working with youth and adolescents; preference given to those with experience with emotional disturbance, behavior disorders, or mental illness

Salary: From $18.00-$21.00 per hour
