The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a qualified individual to join the faculty in the Department of Music as Director of Bands. The successful candidate will have excellent opportunities to lead and develop the instrumental music program. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to Christ-centered Liberal Arts education, Christian service, and the mission of the university. Faulkner University is a Christian university affiliated with the churches of Christ. This is a full-time, 12-month position. Faculty rank, tenure status, and salary will be commensurate with academic qualifications, teaching experience, and research. Position is scheduled to begin June 2024.
Summary of Duties :
- Teach a 4 course load for the academic year
- Direct marching band, concert band, jazz ensemble, and pep band
- Recruit prospective band members
- Develop mutually beneficial relationships with the area-wide music community
- Develop musical talent and leadership capacity of band members
- Lead the band to represent the university in a variety of settings
Qualifications :
Earned master's degree in music field with an instrumental emphasis required; earned doctorate degree, ABD status or pursuing doctoral studies in music or related field preferred. Experience directing marching and concert bands required.
