The Country Club of Virginia seeks a Head of Instruction to lead, develop, and oversee all instructional aspects of our Aquatics program while ensuring the highest standards of safety, service, and engagement.
Position Overview:
The Head of Instruction is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and success of the Club’s Aquatics programming. This role oversees coaching and instructional staff, maintains a strong focus on member engagement, ensures safety protocols are followed, and manages program logistics
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership & Coordination: Develop and manage a comprehensive Aquatics program that meets the needs of members across all age and skill levels
- Staff Management: Oversee the hiring, training, and scheduling of Aquatics staff, including Head Swim Coach, Lead Swim Coach, Head Dive Coach, and Lead Instructor
- Member Engagement & Events: Foster a welcoming and service-oriented atmosphere, ensuring members feel personally connected to the Aquatics program. Plan and execute member events to encourage participation
- Safety & Rule Enforcement: Maintain a safe and healthy environment by implementing and enforcing safety protocols for both members and staff
- Team Logistics: Manage billing, uniforms, equipment, and other operational logistics for Aquatics teams
- Operational Excellence: Ensure smooth day-to-day operations, including scheduling, facility maintenance, and collaboration with Club leadership to optimize programming
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in aquatics programming, coaching, or swim instruction
- Strong background in managing staff, training, and scheduling
- Certification in lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills
- Experience handling team logistics, event planning, and program development
