General Statement of Duties:
The Sports Complex Seasonal Event Worker supports events by performing a variety of customer service and facility maintenance tasks. Primary duties include operating scoreboards, working in concessions, and collecting gate fees. The role requires physical activity, outdoor work in varying conditions, and professional interaction with patrons. Weekend and evening availability is required.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
· Do the right thing.
· Promote the vision, mission and values of the Board of Supervisors and County Government Organization.
· Maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
· Engage professionally with patrons and team members.
Scorekeeping
· Operate electronic scoreboards for softball, ensuring accurate game time and scorekeeping.
· Communicate with officials and event staff to ensure game information is updated correctly.
· Troubleshoot basic scoreboard malfunctions and report technical issues to supervisors.
Concessions
· Prepare and serve food and beverages according to health and safety guidelines.
· Operate cash registers and point-of-sale systems efficiently.
· Maintain cleanliness of concession stands, including stocking supplies and disposing of waste.
Gate Keeping
· Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner while collecting entry fees.
· Handle cash and electronic transactions accurately, providing change as needed.
· Maintain organized and secure handling of collected funds.
· Verify credentials for team staff, officials, and event personnel.
General Event Support
· Assist the groundskeeping staff as needed.
· Assist with tournament and field setup and takedown.
· General cleaning and maintenance of tower, restrooms, dugouts, and public areas.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
· Punctual attendance and adaptability to training.
· Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and the public.
· Experience in public interaction, scoreboard operation, and basic field maintenance tasks is advantageous.
Physical Demands/Special Work Environment:
· The person in this position frequently is required to traverse across uneven grounds; sports fields; indoor arenas; small spaces such as bathroom stalls and concession stands; and wet, snow, or ice-covered walkways.
· The person in this position frequently communicates and exchanges information with colleagues and subordinates who need detailed instructions on work assignments. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
· Constantly works in outside environmental conditions, including extreme cold, extreme heat, hazards, and atmospheric exposure.
· The role also requires frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, standing, and walking to perform operational tasks effectively.
· Vocal communication is essential for expressing and exchanging ideas, while hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
· Visual acuity is necessary for determining the accuracy or thoroughness of work, observing general surroundings, and monitoring activities.
Reports to: Sports Complex Operations Manager
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Minors aged 16 and 17 years old cannot operate any type of power equipment designed for cutting or trimming vegetation or for digging or any power hand tools or other power devices or equipment that could cause harm in the event of an accident or improper use.
