General Statement of Duties:
The Sports Complex Seasonal Groundskeeper supports the daily operations and events at the sports complex by performing facility maintenance, field preparation, and/or customer service tasks. Responsibilities include setting up and breaking down for events, maintaining fields and equipment, cleaning facilities, and ensuring safe and efficient operations. The role requires physical activity, outdoor work in varying conditions, and professional interaction with patrons.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
· Do the right thing.
· Promote the vision, mission and values of the Board of Supervisors and County Government Organization.
· Maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
· Engage professionally with patrons and team members.
· Assist with tournament and field setup and takedown.
· General cleaning and maintenance of tower, restrooms, dugouts, and public areas.
· Mowing, weeding, edging, and dragging ball fields.
· Top dressing, seeding, and plugging grass.
· Maintenance of equipment, bases, fences, irrigation heads, and backstop pads.
· Painting foul lines, brick dust cleaning, and fence line weeding.
· Use motorized equipment to assist with field preparation (e.g., spreading calcined clay drying agents, raking soil).
· Manage trash collection, weekly power washing, and concrete sweeping.
· Maintenance of outer areas, such as disc golf courses and cross-country tracks.
· Assist the event staff as needed: Operate point-of-sale systems, scoreboards, microphones, and kitchen appliances.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
· The candidate must be 18 years or older by the first day of employment.
· Preferred high school graduate.
· Punctual attendance and adaptability to training.
· Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and the public.
· Experience in public interaction, scoreboard operation, and basic field maintenance tasks is advantageous.
Physical Demands/Special Work Environment:
· The person in this position frequently moves equipment, tools, maintenance items, trash, and yard waste weighing up to 50 pounds.
· Frequently operates, positions, and inspects machinery and tools for use in maintenance tasks.
· The person in this position frequently is required to traverse across uneven grounds; sports fields; indoor arenas; small spaces such as bathroom stalls and concession stands; and wet, snow, or ice-covered walkways.
· The person in this position frequently communicates and exchanges information with colleagues and subordinates who need detailed instructions on work assignments. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
· The person occasionally ascends/descends ladders to provide maintenance.
· Constantly positions oneself low to the ground or on the ground to provide maintenance to irrigation, equipment, and clay infield surfaces on fields.
· Requires accurate use and precise perception and judgment for: safe use of measuring devices; operation of machinery and equipment; operation of motor vehicles; and the general observation of surroundings and activities for the safety of individuals, staff, and the public.
· Constantly works in outside environmental conditions, including extreme cold, extreme heat, hazards, and atmospheric exposure.
· The role also requires frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, standing, and walking to perform maintenance and operational tasks effectively.
· Vocal communication is essential for expressing and exchanging ideas, while hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
· Visual acuity is necessary for determining the accuracy or thoroughness of work, observing general surroundings, and monitoring activities.

Supervisory Responsibility: None
