Description
Under general supervision, to operate transits and other instruments on an engineering field survey party.
Typical Tasks
- Sets up, adjusts, and operates level, transit, and other survey instruments to establish lines, angles, distances, and elevations for topographic, property and construction field engineering surveys;

Acts as record keeper by taking field notes and making sketches of survey work performed;

Makes calculations;

Cleans and adjusts surveying instruments;

May act as survey party chief under direction, or in the absence of the regular chief;

Assists in training and supervising subordinate personnel;
- Performs related work as required.
Employment Standards
Training and experience equivalent to completion of high school and four years of technical engineering experience, two years of which must have been in field engineering survey work.
Knowledge of:

The principles of geometry and trigonometry;
- Surveying instruments and techniques.

Accurately gather and record data;

Make accurate engineering computations;

Direct the work of others;

Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions;
