Activities Assistant - part time

Job Summary
The Activity Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in long-term care and senior living communities. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors and individuals with disabilities, ensuring that all activities are tailored to meet their unique needs.

Duties

• Assist in the development and implementation of recreational therapy programs aimed at improving residents' overall well-being.
• Plan and coordinate various events and activities that cater to the interests and abilities of residents.
• Facilitate group activities, ensuring participation from all attendees while providing support as needed.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to encourage participation and gather feedback on activities.
• Manage schedules for daily activities, ensuring that all events are well-organized and executed smoothly.
• Provide assistance to residents during activities, including those with memory care needs or physical disabilities.
• Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants by adhering to safety protocols during events.

Requirements

• Previous experience in senior care, long-term care, or home community care is preferred.
• Knowledge of memory care principles and recreational therapy practices is a plus.
• Strong event planning skills with the ability to manage multiple schedules effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to engage with residents, families, and team members.
• A compassionate approach towards assisting individuals with disabilities or special needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
• Flexibility to adapt activities based on the changing needs of residents.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 per week
