Summary
The opener and closer isresponsible for setting up the daycare facility at the beginning of the day, ensuring it is ready for children to arrive, and then securely closing down the facility at the end of the day, including checking all children are accounted for and picked up by their parents, while also maintaining cleanliness and following safety protocols throughout the shift. The hours would be from 6 : 45AM-9 : 45 AM and 2 : 45-5 : 30PM (or last child dismissal).
Duties
Opening Duties :
Arrive early to unlock the facility and turn on necessary systems (lights, heating / cooling).
Conduct a thorough safety inspection of the facility, checking for any hazards or cleaning needs.
Prepare the play areas by setting up toys, activities, and learning materials appropriate for the day.
Check and restock supplies like snacks, drinks, and hygiene products.
Greet arriving children and parents, checking in children on attendance sheets and ensuring proper communication regarding any important information.
Assist with breakfast preparation and serving.
Closing Duties :
Begin the pick-up process by notifying parents of the approaching closing time.
Conduct a headcount to ensure all children are present and accounted for.
Assist with cleaning up play areas, toys, and common spaces.
Secure all doors and windows, checking for any remaining children or personal belongings.
Update daily logs and reports regarding attendance, activities, and any incidents.
Communicate with staff regarding any necessary tasks for the next day.
Requirements
Must be 21
Child Development Associate
Strong commitment to child safety and welfare.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with children and parents.
Ability to follow established procedures and routines.
Attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Basic first aid and CPR certification may be required.
Nice To Haves
Experience working in a childcare setting is preferred.
Shift Flexibility : Depending on the daycare's operating hours, the opener and closer roles may require early morning or late evening shifts.
Teamwork : While working independently during opening and closing procedures, collaboration with other staff members is vital for smooth transitions throughout the day.
Compliance with Regulations : Adherence to local child care licensing requirements and safety regulations is crucial.
