DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
The Tribal Council is seeking letters of interest and resumes from Cowlitz Indian Tribal members interested in serving as a member of the Cowlitz Tribal Gaming Commission (Commission).
Terms of office for the initial members of the Commission will be staggered between five and seven years.
ELIGIBILITY:
The minimum requirements for appointment as a member of the Tribal Gaming Commission shall include experience and knowledge of gaming management, business, finance, or law. Five years of experience in gaming or other regulatory affairs, public accounting or business finance, public or business administration, judicial or dispute resolution services, criminal justice, civil or criminal investigation, or law is desired. Commissioners must satisfy the suitability standards for key employees and primary management officials including background investigations.
No member of the Tribal Gaming Board of Directors (also known as Cowlitz Tribal Gaming Authority) or employee of the gaming operation may serve on the Tribal Gaming Commission, and no person directly related to any Tribal Gaming Director member may serve on the Tribal Gaming Commission without a written waiver by the Tribal Council. Tribal Gaming Commissioners are prohibited from gambling at the Tribes casino.
TIME COMMITMENT: Commissioners may be asked to spend additional time in Commission business outside of regularly scheduled meetings.
STIPEND: This is not a full time position and Commissioners are not eligible for any Cowlitz Indian Tribe employee benefits. Commissioners are compensated with a stipend per meeting.
ETHICS REQUIREMENTS: As Public Officials, Gaming Commissioners are subject to the Cowlitz Indian Tribe Code of Ethics as well as those stipulated in Section 23 of the Gaming Ordinance.
