Position Summary

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay brings help, hope and healing to people facing serious life challenges or trauma resulting from sexual assault or abuse, domestic violence, financial distress, substance abuse, medical emergency, suicidal thoughts, emotional or situational problems. The Ambassador is responsible for establishing relationships with multidisciplinary partners. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer and in their absence the President and Chief Executive Officer.

Strategic/Transformational Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for establishing relationships with multidisciplinary partners on behalf of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.
  • Facilitates educational presentations and public speaking on the SAS department and various issues, as related to sexual violence and working with trauma survivors.
  • Involves staff and other stakeholders (primarily SART) in the performance quality improvement (PQI) process and uses data to improve services and outcomes.

Transactional/Administrative Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engages, develops, and maintains relationships with leaders from other agencies, with a goal of focusing on agencies that serve teens or human trafficking survivors.
  • Responsible for nurturing professional collaborative relationships with community partners aimed towards creating memorandums-of-understanding (MOUSs).
  • Identify training needs in our community and develop a plan to offer educational training to other professionals, community members, and SART team members.
  • Creates standardized training to result in cohesive branding and messaging throughout the Crisis Center.
  • Strategically focus professional relationships, including offering educational training to staff at medical facilities, including, but not limited to, various hospitals Emergency Department teams.
  • Plan and execute a minimum of two events a year which target external stakeholders in the SouthShore community.
  • Regularly collaborate with the Marketing team to create social media and other marketing materials related to SAS, mental health and human trafficking.
  • With the guidance of the Marketing team, serve as the media spokesperson on issues related to SAS, mental health and human trafficking.
  • Engage community members and facilitate tours of the Crisis Center offices and exam locations
  • Serve as consultant to other agencies as requested and when approved by supervisor
  • Attend agency related meetings when approved by supervisor.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.
  • Valid Florida drivers license and insured private transportation.
  • Some experience teaching and/or public speaking.

  • Ability to effectively present information to SART members and the community.
  • Ability to effectively respond to questions, concerns and suggestions raised by community members and SART members with ability to get buy-in and generate excitement and results.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to maintain an appearance of composure at all times.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to think creatively to solve problems.
  • Complete Advocacy Core Training as required by FCASV within 1 month of hire.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Physical Requirement: The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, walk, and to stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Performs duties of considerable difficulty requiring a high level of initiative and independent judgment.

Working Conditions: Duties are performed primarily in an office/clinic setting. However, community outreach will require the use of personal automobile to travel and could be exposed to changing weather. The noise level is quiet.

Travel: Moderate

Hours: Full-time, variable schedule to meet operational needs.
