Job Title: Outreach Advocate/Office Manager

Department: Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault/CAC

Reports To: Manager

Schedule: El Campo, Monday- Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM and on-call

Position Summary: This position is for a Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Advocate in the El Campo Office. This position may require hours other than Monday- Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM. Deliver primary prevention programs and community awareness programs as assigned by the outreach manager. This position focuses on enhancing community relationship and reaching out to underserved victims while providing direct victim services to victims of sexual assautl and domestic violence. Will act as the office manager at the El Campo location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing peer support counseling, support services and emotional support to domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault clients.
  • Deliver primary prevention programming as assigned by the outreach manager.
  • Deliver public presentations and outreach programs in the community and schools.
  • Provide advocacy services to residential clients when needed.
  • Complete client intakes and schedule services for the El Campo location.
  • Create virtual events and social media campaigns that highlight Crisis Center services and help to reach victims.
  • Create handouts, educational information, brochures, and other documents.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for sexual assault and domestic violence call outs and deliver the following services as needed; medical accompaniment, crisis intervention, CVC assistance, victim impact statement assistance, VINE assistance, peer support services, protective order assistance, information and referrals, and individual advocacy.
  • Acts as liaison to domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault victims through the criminal justice system, court system, hospital system and other social service agencies.
  • Participate in recruiting, training, coordinating and retaining volunteers.
  • Actively recruit volunteers through community outreach and public awareness presentations.
  • Coordinate public awareness presentations and community outreach monthly.
  • Conducts and/or assist in developing and presenting programs on domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Assist with community education, professional trainings and structured education programs in the community, which includes but not limited to: law enforcement, civic groups, churches and other entities as needed. Submit outreach forms documenting contacts made and programs delivered.
  • Performs crisis counseling and case management with clients by providing peer counseling, protective order screenings, transportation and support services, assess client’s needs, assist client in creating service plans, creating safety plans, make appropriate referrals to outside resources, and evaluate client progress.
  • Assist clients in determining short- and long-term goals, objectives, and priorities; provide case management; coordinate service delivery; maintain current accurate statistical records.
  • Coordinate peer support groups in outreach areas.
  • Oversee operations at the El Campo location; reporting maintenance concerns, submitting supplies requests, ensuring safety is prioritized, and reporting concerns to leadership.
  • Create and maintain positive community relations on behalf of the Crisis Center.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned. In accordance with the team philosophy of the agency, may routinely be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed above. Act in accordance with the agency's mission statement and goals.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

Minimum of 2 years of case management, crisis intervention, and/or coordinating services. At least 2 years of experience in collaboratively working with a team. Comfortable with frequent public speaking, creating documents, virtual outreach and social media. Minimum of an associate degree in social work, psychology or related field; bachelor degree preferred. Experience in program delivery, public speaking, crisis intervention services and case management.

  • Proficiency in development of policy and procedures and operational guidelines;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and data management environments.

Language Skills

Ability to read, and interpret documents such as operating manuals, government grant policies, and professional journals. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and appropriate notes. Ability to speak effectively with staff members, funders, and community members.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

OAG 40-hour SATP (sexual assault training program certification), current valid driver’s license, and a minimum of 20 hours of family violence training annually. Must own a reliable vehicle and have vehicle insurance.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Frequent prolonged sitting, walking, stooping, standing, stair-climbing and lifting of up to 20 pounds. Must be able to drive day time and night time hours.

Working Conditions:

Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs). Work may be performed, but is not limited to an office environment.
