The Croft School is a young independent school in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston. Having opened in Fall 2020, our school currently enrolls 224 students in Preschool through Grade 4. During the 2025-26 school year, we will expand to include Grade 5. Over time, we will grow (one grade level per year) into a 300-student Preschool - Grade 6 school.

About The Role
The Croft School (Jamaica Plain) is seeking to hire an exceptional Assistant Pre-K Teacher. In each Pre-K classroom, there will is one Lead Preschool Teacher, one Associate Teacher, and one Assistant Teacher.
The ideal candidate for the Assistant Teacher role is an individual who is excited to play a long-term supporting role in our Pre-K classroom. We are seeking an individual who has been highly successful in working with 4-year-olds in other school or school-like settings.
The ideal candidate will be committed to building deep relationships with their students and use that knowledge to establish and support a classroom that balances high-quality centers-based learning (including academic instruction), project-based learning, learning throughout the neighborhood and community, social-emotional learning, and play-based learning. All Croft team members, including Assistant Teachers, dedicate ample time and thoughtfulness to close communication and partnership with their students’ families.

Qualifications And Qualities
- Experience working with 4-year-old (approximate) children in a childcare or school setting
- Eagerness and enthusiasm for playing a supporting role in a Preschool classroom
- A contagious love for teaching, children, and nurturing students’ natural curiosity, instilling in them a lifelong passion for learning
- An entrepreneurial spirit coupled with an ambitious work ethic
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, inclusive of empathy for others, thoughtful listening, team-orientation, and enthusiasm for working closely with a lead teacher and other colleagues
- Ability to support the development of a joyous learning environment
- Ability to support and/or lead targeted, small-group instruction
- Self-reflectiveness, humility, and an eagerness to continually improve one’s practice
- A Bachelor’s Degree and current authorization to work in the United States is required
