The Croft School – Part-Time Science Teacher (South End, Boston) Start Date : August 2025 About The Croft School The Croft School is a young independent school in the South End neighborhood of Boston. Having opened in September 2022, our school currently enrolls 86 students in Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First Grade. During the 2025-26 school year, we will expand to include Grade 2. Over time, we will grow into a 300-student Preschool - Grade 6 school. About The Role The Croft School is seeking a Science Teacher to lead and teach the school’s Kindergarten - Grade 2 Science classes. This individual will work approximately 12 hours per week teaching Science with the opportunity to work an additional 28 hours per week as an Associate Teacher, inclusive of designing and teaching an extended day course. Associate Teachers work closely with a Lead Teacher in a Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, or Kindergarten classroom (up to ~18 students per classroom). All Croft teachers are empowered to design and deliver an outstanding student program in alignment with the school’s focus on student-centeredness. The ideal candidate sees Science learning as an opportunity for children to take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process. The ideal candidate will be committed to building deep relationships with their students and their families, as developing close-knit, trusting connections are at the heart of The Croft School. Qualifications and Qualities 2 years of elementary Science-connected education experience A contagious love for teaching, children, and nurturing students’ natural curiosity, instilling in them a lifelong passion for learning. An entrepreneurial spirit coupled with an ambitious work ethic, as well as a natural desire to go above and beyond to serve students and their families in both expected and unexpected ways. Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, inclusive of empathy for others, thoughtful listening, and enthusiasm for being part of The Croft Schools team-oriented environment. Ability to create a safe, joyous learning environment, inclusive of excellent classroom management strategies and skills Self-reflectiveness, humility, and an eagerness to continually improve one’s practice. A strong desire to remain in this role for 5 years (note : this role will grow as the school expands). Strong ties to and / or a long-term commitment to the Boston area. A Bachelor’s Degree and current authorization to work in the United States is required.
