The Crosby Company is a family office responsible for wealth management and preservation for multiple branches and generations of a single family. The Crosby Company provides middle and back-office services to various individual businesses including Curatorial, Foundations, Investments, Trust, Tax and Private Real Estate.
Reporting to the Fiduciary Controller, the Senior Accountant has accounting and reporting responsibilities for assigned groups of entities that may include trusts, individuals and partnerships, as well as responsibility for assigned general ledger accounts spanning all entities. The position requires the ability to work with all levels of management and staff and produce complete and accurate work on a timely basis.
POSITION DUTIES :
- Perform general ledger accounting for partnership, individual, trusts and other entities, including, but not limited to :
Preparation and recording of general ledger entries
Preparation and review of monthly general ledger account reconciliations, including timely resolution of exceptionsReview of trust transactions for appropriate recording and classification as principal or income eventsPreparation and reconciliation of monthly income allocations on partnershipsApproval of vendor disbursements for appropriate financial recordkeepingPrepare appropriate partnership, client and other financial reporting for internal and external purposes, including, but not limited to :Quarterly balance sheets, income statements, equity roll forwards, cash flows and supporting schedules for partnerships
Quarterly client statements for trusts, individuals, and disregarded entitiesQuarterly tax basis reporting packages for partnershipsQuarterly aggregated balance sheets and cash flow reporting for certain groups of individuals and key trustsAd hoc requests from management and business partnersReview disbursements for proper entity, vendor, portfolio, descriptions, account coding, trust accounting and invoice support.Participate in or lead testing and execution of financial transactions that are complex and involve multiple departmentsLiaison with internal stakeholders including tax, trust and operationsUtilize systems for optimal process and reporting efficiencies. Seek to continually make accounting process more efficient. May participate in system conversion or implementation projects or annual software upgrades.Participate in special projects providing accounting subject matter expertiseDevelop, document and maintain accounting policies and proceduresManage audit requests for external and internal audits and control reviews, including the preparation of the GAAP financial statements if requiredQUALIFICATIONS :
Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or finance requiredCPA preferredMinimum 5 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, including trust and partnership accountingPrior experience preparing budgets and other financial reporting for managementUnderstanding of accounting principles, practices and internal controlsStrong analytical, problem solving and organizational skillsAbility to work well independently and exhibit good judgmentExcellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated experience with financial systems and data. Proficient in MS Office, including advance usage of ExcelDetail-oriented with strong problem-solving skillsComfortable with and adept at learning new technology interfaces and software packagesProactive and positive attitude, highly motivated, self-directed with minimal daily supervisionDemonstrated flexibility in adapting to new and varying situationsWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer .
