Job Summary
We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Nuclear Medicine Technologist. You will perform tests for diagnosis and medical research. Prepare and give small doses of radioactive drugs (radiopharmaceuticals) to patients, then use high-level imaging equipment to record images of the radioactive material in the body. Physicians interpret the images to study and diagnose an infection or disorder. Nuclear medicine technologists also give doses of radiation to patients internally to treat medical conditions.
Job Description
Nuclear medicine technologists work with doctors, medical physicists, nuclear pharmacists, computer specialists, nurses, and administrative staff.
Perform radiologic procedures by selecting the proper technical factors and performing the appropriate quality control for optimal diagnostic imaging.
Ensure the appropriate collimation and shielding using good judgment in radiation safety factors.
Review request with Radiologist or Resident when necessary to obtain special instructions/protocol.
Ensure patient readiness for procedure, completion of consent (as necessary) prior to the procedure and education of patient to the study to be performed.
Determine pregnancy status of female patient and take proper steps in performing the procedure.
Ensure completion of all studies, the appropriate image quality and orientation before pushing to PACS.
Ensure completion of all electronic documentation on PACS and EPIC.
Ensure x-ray rooms and equipment are kept clean, orderly and patient ready.
Ensure the maintenance/restocking and rotation of supplies.
Ensure equipment quality control is performed as required: complete daily room visual/manual mechanical checklist: initiate equipment service when applicable and report to the supervisor/physicist.
Participate in Performance Improvement activities: suggest projects for PI activity.
Will be required to rotate through weekends and holidays: must be able to accept assignment through all sections of routine Diagnostic Radiology such as E.R., O.R., Portable and Prep. cases.
Required to wash hands between examinations and to sanitize x-ray equipment after each exam.
Perform other related duties as required.
Skills Required
At least 1 year Nuclear Medicine Technology experience
Knowledge of Nuclear Medicine Equipment Operation.
Knowledge of Radiation Safety
Education/Training/Certifications
A valid license as a nuclear medicine technologist issued by the NYSDOH required.
BLS preferred.
Salary : $65 - $72
