POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Associate Dean - Residence Life and Student Conduct, the Assistant Dean - Student Conduct is responsible for the case management and day-to-day operations of the student conduct process. This position serves as a primary investigator and adjudicator for all Code of Conduct violations. Working with essential departments, such as, Campus Safety, Title IX, and Residence Life, the Assistant Dean addresses student behavior, proactively intervenes, and thoroughly documents student conduct.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages record keeping and case management of all conduct-related issues through the conduct database, Maxient.
- Provides guidance and direction to students on a variety of collegiate issues including, but not limited to navigation of the student conduct process.
- Facilitates conversations with faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and members of the community to resolve student concerns and advocate for students.
- Conducts investigations, adjudicates student related conduct / policy violations, and imposes sanctions consistent with the disciplinary matrix; facilitates intake interviews for Title IX related incidents.
- Coordinates and maintains compliance records of web-based student success, alcohol abuse and sexual assault prevention initiatives, sends out notice of demerits to students for incomplete work, and applies registration holds for students who fail to complete the programs.
- Ensures compliance for alcohol prevention program review and assessment by conducting internal surveys and assessments, and annual reporting, such as the Biennial Review.
- Provides follow up and case management status to the Associate Dean - Residence Life and Student Conduct for review by the Behavioral Assessment Team (BAT), a group that identifies students demonstrating concerning behavior.
- Assists with editing and publishing the Student Handbook. Makes recommendations for new and / or updated policies.
- Develops training initiatives for new and existing student conduct hearing officers.
- Generates reports of student conduct patterns and trends at the CIA. Analyzes reports and makes recommendations based upon the data. Supports and encourages best practices within Higher Education.
- Provides monthly Clery Report statistical data to Associate Dean - Residence Life and Student Conduct and Director - Campus Safety.
- Organizes and prioritizes student appeals; composes all written communication for Judicial Board and closes out all appeal cases. Creates discussions on the Judicial Board's Team Site on the CIA's Main Menu, internal portal for all submitted appeals and keeps all member contact information up to date.
- Assists the Associate Dean - Student Affairs and Residence Life with additional projects.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
