Senior Electrical Power Generation Engineer
The Dahill Group is pleased to be assisting our client, an innovative energy company which is seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Electrical Engineer to support the company in coordinating and managing power generation projects with a strong focus on data centers. Our client is a team of energy experts that are focused on building reliable and affordable power generation to support the ever-growing need for electricity generation in North America. The company is unique in its ability to support merchant grid generation, behind the meter, private microgrid and bridge power solutions for the growing needs of Data Centers, industrial reshoring and fleet electrification.The position will be in our clients Houston or Denver office.
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of electrical engineering projects, from initial concept development to project closure. This includes overseeing detailed scope development, engineering and design, procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up, and final project completion. The role will involve preparation of specifications for low, medium, and high voltage (480V 138kV) electrical generation and distribution systems and equipment, as well as close coordination with project teams, vendors, and owner electrical reliability teams. The Senior Electrical Engineer will ensure successful execution of electrical infrastructure projects, maintaining compliance with relevant standards and codes.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BS) required. P.E preferred
10-20 years of applicable electrical engineering experience, with a focus on power generation systems and electrical infrastructure projects.
Synchronization of multiple generation sources onto micro or public grids.
In-depth knowledge of the NEC, ISA, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA, IEC, and IEEE standards and codes.
Hands-on experience with HV / MV / LV switchgear, motor control systems, VFDs, transformers, large HP motors (both induction and synchronous), and electrical SCADA systems.
Extensive experience in specifying electrical equipment and designing systems for complex infrastructure projects, including MCCs, transformers, switchgear, motors, and distribution components.
Strong experience in electrical system modeling, arc flash risk assessments, and electrical coordination studies. ETAP experience preferred.
Proven ability to create detailed design and construction packages, including all technical documentation required for system installation and operation.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while coordinating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications & Requirements
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for resolving complex electrical engineering issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, specifications, and interacting with stakeholders.
Experience with commissioning and startup of electrical systems and infrastructure.
Familiarity with international standards and practices in electrical engineering.
Primary Responsibilities
Leads electrical engineering efforts on projects, from design through to commissioning and start-up.
Develops and manages electrical specifications and requisitions for purchasing electrical equipment, including MCCs, switchgear, VFDs, transformers, and motors.
Coordinates and collaborates with project team members, vendors, and owner electrical reliability teams to ensure timely and efficient project execution.
Ensures electrical systems meet required codes and standards, including NEC, ISA, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA, IEC, and IEEE.
Performs electrical system modeling, arc flash risk assessments, and electrical coordination studies (ETAP preferred).
Develop and issue detailed design and construction packages, ensuring proper documentation and specifications for all electrical infrastructure systems.
Oversees the installation and commissioning of electrical distribution systems, including cables, cable trays, overhead lines, grounding, lightning protection, and overcurrent protection.
Provides technical oversight and guidance during field construction activities to ensure adherence to project plans and safety standards.
Reviews and approves electrical engineering reports and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Participates in risk assessments, troubleshooting, and system optimization during startup and operation phases.
Ensures final project closure documentation is complete and meets project requirements.

Salary & Benefits
Salary : 115K to 250K per year commensurate with experience.
Bonus Cash : Target 20%
