What are the responsibilities and job description for the Horticulture Specialist position at The Dallas World Aquarium?
The horticulture specialist is responsible of the upkeep and care of the facility. This is taken care of by planting trees, creating flower beds, maintaining the cleanliness of the grounds and facilities, and maintaining the safe operation of equipment.
Job Functions
- Maintaining the appearance and safety of the facility include, trimming and edging around the walks, flower beds, walls, building. Removing leaves and debris. Pulling weeds and mulching landscape beds. Watering the lawns, trees, flower beds. Planting grass, flowers, trees, repairing, and reconstructing existing facilities.
- Operate equipment such as trenchers, backhoes, sod cutters, turf sweeper, backpack blower, weed eaters, etc.
- Maintain safe and efficient operation of equipment by performing preventative maintenance such as; sharpening blades, oiling parts, cleaning equipment, etc.
- Knowledge of fertilization for indoor and outdoor plants.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
