The Dalton School seeks a part-time High School Dance Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Candidates must have extensive professional experience in dance with expertise in teaching various skill levels of contemporary, modern, hip-hop, and other dance forms. This position requires a deep commitment to collaboration through active participation in ongoing dance curriculum and program development as a member of a team of dance educators and teaching artists.
Responsibilities:
- Teach Beginning through Advanced contemporary and modern dance, hip-hop, and other dance styles and forms.
- Design creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons for various skill and age levels.
- Engage one-on-one with students for support and enrichment.
- Identify students’ strengths/challenges through effective oral and written communication.
- Plan assignments and curriculum in collaboration with the dance department; contribute to departmental projects and goals as a team member.
- Support the mission of The Dalton Dance Department and The Dalton School; implement learning through the Dalton Plan.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Extensive professional dance experience.
- Wide-ranging experience teaching dance to young people.
- Ability to teach a diverse range of dance styles and techniques.
- Commitment to pedagogic agility and adaptive teaching style.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
