We are seeking a full-time Middle School Math Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year who is passionate and knowledgeable about progressive, inquiry based middle school mathematics education. Applicants should be enthusiastic about working collaboratively to design curricula that address the whole child.
Our Middle School encompasses Grades 4-8. Math in Grades 4 & 5 is taught in heterogeneous classrooms with the House Advisor as co-teacher. Math 6 is also taught in heterogeneous groups and tracking begins in 7th Grade in our Algebra 1 Course. Responsibilities of this position would include teaching multiple sections of MS Math, working with individual and small groups of students in weekly Lab periods, and collaborating with colleagues in the Middle School. There is also the possibility of co-House Advising, working as part of our Math Learning Specialist team, or applying for our rotating MS Math Department Chair position (4-year term).
Responsibilities:
- Teach multiple sections of MS Math
- Collaborate with other MS Math teachers and learning specialists on curriculum development and differentiated teaching strategies to support a range of learners
- Think creatively and flexibly on best structures to support student learning in the math classroom, based on data, assessments and observations
- Work individually or in small groups with students in weekly Labs
- Communicate information regarding progress in math through rotational meetings with House Advisors, attend case conferences and guidance meetings as needed, complete checklist reports, and facilitate communication between tutors and teachers to coordinate the support program
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education or a related field
- Experience with teaching content up through Algebra 2
- Prior experience working with Middle School students
- Places value in using an asset based, whole child approach to supporting students
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Strong skills in data gathering, organizing, analysis and follow through; developing differentiated plans and implementing next steps
- Effective interpersonal skills and proven success working collaboratively
- A reflective practitioner who possesses a willingness to grow professionally
- Ability to manage, take initiative on, prioritize and follow through
