What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host position at The Dandelion?
The Host is responsible for providing the guest with a positive experience as the first and
last impression for every visitor. The Host engages with warmth, hospitality, and
professionalism ensuring guest requests are acknowledged and communicated to the
appropriate parties.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Answering phones in a polite and hospitable manner, taking reservations, guest
requests, and answering questions accurately
• Greeting every guest as they enter the restaurant
• Offer assistance to guests with coats, bags, strollers, etc
• Handling the reservation system to make guest’s check-in and seating as smooth as
possible
• Maintaining accurate information in the reservation system
• Conveying all appropriate guest information to managers, staff and chefs (e.g. VIP’s,
special occasions, allergies, special requests, etc.)
• Quoting accurate wait times for walk-in guests
• Accommodating guest requests whenever possible
• Walk guests to tables engaging in conversation, providing chair service as
appropriate
• Present and maintain clean and accurate menus
• Offering a warm farewell to every guest as they leave the restaurant
• Immediately notifying management of any guest complaints, including any
interactions with a guest that leads the host to believe that the guest is not 100%
happy with their visit.
• Maintaining a clean and orderly host stand, coat closet, entrance area, and guest
bathrooms
• Handle phone orders or transactions including gift certificates and to-go orders
• Assist with organization tasks as needed
• Complete opening, closing, and weekly side work duties
• Perform additional tasks at the direction of management

REQUIREMENTS
- Able to stand for an 8-10 hour shift
- Able to lift up to 30lbs
- Able to carry trays up to 40lbs
- Able to climb stairs and ladders
- Able to reach above the head and stoop to put items on the floor or on shelves
- Able to read and speak English
- Able to work as part of a team for the benefit of the guest
- Able to work in a consistently fast paced, loud environment
