Job Summary:
A Field Pole Inspection Technician is responsible for collecting detailed information about electric utility and telecommunication facilities and equipment. It is an outdoor position that requires hiking between spans of utility poles to collect data required per contract agreements. Davey Resource Group will train the ideal candidate to perform all required duties. This position requires routine overnight travel typically 3-4 weeks at a time. 90%-100% Travel is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Work in an outdoor environment to collect field data that violates NECS or company policies.
- Submit organized, detailed data for each project that could include maps, notes and pictures of conditions found.
- Work professionally in the field as a representative of DRG and our customers.
- Communicate effectively and on a daily basis with supervisor.
- Work safely and independent of supervision.
- Understand and implement all safety, quality, and production goals
- Complete inspection records, and report and follow appropriate codes and regulations
- Maintain and keep records up to date on all tools, electronics, vehicles, and equipment
- Serve as a point of contact for the client, public and field staff
- This is a physically arduous position that requires working outside in a variety of weather types and exposure to the elements
- Some jobs may require digging
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; utilities background preferred.
- Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and general safety practices is a plus.
- Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather and have the desire to actively participate in physically demanding work lifting up to 45 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Basic proficiency with computers including the ability to read, interpret and follow GPS maps and blueprints.
- Ability to follow process specifications and guidelines in an extremely high-quality, high paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills; both written and oral.

Work Environment:
- This position will work outdoors, year-round, in all weather conditions, and on varying terrain. May work for long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions
- Exposure to dust, odors, gasses, vapors, wet or slick surfaces, and loud noises is possible
- Must always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 – 50 per week
