Description
The Porter is responsible for a variety of duties to maintain a clean community.
MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:
- Empties trashcans throughout the facility, cleaning trashcans inside and out.
- Deposits accumulated trash and/or recyclables in proper receptacle.
- Keep area around the dumpster clean.
- Help maintain a clean can wash area.
- Sweeps all porches, break area and dock.
- Dust mop, sweep and wet mop floors and vacuum carpets.
- Shop vacuum up all large liquid spills.
- Assist with moving residents’ furniture as needed.
- High dust corners and windows. Dust items in hallways i.e. (pictures, fire extinguisher).
- Deliver supplies and clean linen to Households.
- Clean offices, HR, Sales office, Classroom and Soiled Linen Room and Administration bathrooms.
- Clean specific area to include but not limited to Wellness gym and Rehab areas according to designated schedule or assignment.
- Stock and clean housekeeping and porter closets.
- Follows all hazardous materials guidelines, universal precautions, and safety regulations when handling various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
- Must comply with all OSHA, EPA, and State Health Department regulations.
- Utilizes maintenance work order system on any item that is in need of repair.
- Maintains resident confidentiality at all times.
- Supports the department in times of stress or change.
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to read and write.
- Must be able to use environmental services equipment such as mops, upright and shop vacuums, power washer.
- Physical exertion required at least 90% of the time. Physical exertion is described as standing, walking, stooping, kneeling and bending.
- Frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent pushing of objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to climb a 6 ft stepladder.
- Work in well-lighted, well-ventilated setting.
- Subject to noisy, hot, humid, cold and busy environment.
- Minimal exposure to infectious disease.
- Physical job demands may be subject to possible modifications to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Licensure/ Certification: Driver safety course provided by the company
Experience: Environmental Services experience preferred
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
