Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Metallurgical Laboratory and supervise Technicians.
- Ensure compliance of Metrology Gauge Room activities with corporate standards, overseeing Quality Inspectors.
- Perform non-destructive testing: UT, XRF, Double Etch, MPI, & Thermo-electric testing.
- Develop and maintain employee training and certification programs.
- Analyze metallurgical data for steel, forgings, and heat treatment to ensure quality standards are met.
- Detect and address product and process metallurgical non-conformities through corrective actions.
- Lead process control plans for thermal treatment in alignment with corporate standards and process capability.
- Continuously analyze results, establishing proactive preventive/corrective actions.
- Submit monthly reports on metallurgical activities.
- Coordinate quarterly steel audits, submitting samples as necessary.
- Provide strategic direction in implementing new heat treat technology and equipment.
- Plan and execute capital improvement projects to enhance overall quality, performance, and efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Four years of experience in metallurgical engineering with heat treatment in a metal working manufacturing operation.
- One year of supervisory experience in a lab environment.
- Four years of problem-solving experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Excellent computer skills with strong analytical capabilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Five or more years of metallurgical experience with heat treatment in a metal working manufacturing operation.
- Three or more years of project management experience.
- Three or more years of continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Four or more years of metrology experience using electronic and manual inspection gauging.
- Two or more years of metal working experience, including machining, heat treating, and grinding.
- American Society for Quality certification: Quality Engineer or Quality Manager.
