The Sales and Marketing Specialist role offers an exciting opportunity to support the evolving needs of the New Market Department. This position emphasizes strong organizational and writing skills, as well as the ability to manage sample requests and contribute to special projects.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Sample Management :
Process sample requests for the New Market Department (NM) and coordinate with the Sample Department.
Provide tracking details to customers and sales representatives as needed.
Support the Sample Department Supervisor during its integration into NM.
Arrange and oversee special sampling projects.
Prepare approved PDRs (Product Development Requests), including labeling, inspecting, trimming, logging, and shipping samples to customers.
Customer and Sales Support :
Identify opportunities within sample inquiries and forward to sales representatives.
Handle direct follow-ups for house accounts in coordination with NM representatives.
Respond to customer questions about products and finishes after learning the product line.
Project Coordination :
Assist the Senior VP of Sales & Marketing with trip notes, guided by the Business Development Manager and Sample Department Supervisor.
Organize trip notes from sales representatives and track follow-ups.
Work on swatch card projects, including color / pattern matching, Pantone matching, and product alternates.
Maintain and organize digital catalogs in DropBox and collaborate with the photographer on the digital library.
Process Improvements :
Build a library of custom items in stock, with sample cuttings and available quantities.
Maintain and update lists of designers / specifiers and customers owed sample catalogs.
Develop a comprehensive list of appropriate substitutes for products, especially common color ranges and FR alternates.
Logistics Coordination :
Establish relationships with FedEx, DHL, UPS, and other logistics partners to expedite urgent sample requests.
Qualifications and Skills
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
A background in retail or customer-facing roles is a plus.
Eagerness to learn product lines and processes.
Proficiency in coordinating with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
Experience with tools like DropBox and a willingness to work with digital media.
