What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Mechanical Designer position at The Davis Companies?
Key Responsibilities :
- Ability to create and interpret technical drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Support customers’ design requirements from concept through final design review
- Develop and maintain technical drawings and design documents for various products
- Evaluate materials and design elements to ensure adherence to specifications
- Optimize design processes and improve production efficiency and product performance
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective
- Contribute to the research, design, and selection of tooling, fixturing, and gauging to be used in the manufacturing process
- Oversee equipment designs, modifications, upgrades, and automation
- Strong understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including CNC Machining, Non-Destructive Testing (Magnetic Particle, Pressure Testing, Dye Penetrant) and Mechanical Testing (Tensile, Hardness, Grain Size)
- Knowledge of design principles for various manufacturing techniques such as CNC machining and 3D printing
- Experience working in an ISO / AS9100 facility and conducting quality audits
