The DeLong Co., Inc. is searching for a talented Agricultural Originator Specialist to assist in positioning their assets for maximum return. This role requires excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to manage risk and develop strong producer relationships.
About the Role
As an Agricultural Originator Specialist, you will be responsible for buying and marketing grain from producers, while ensuring that both parties benefit from the transaction. You will also work closely with other grain divisions to coordinate marketing efforts and monitor risks associated with the futures market, freight, quality, and basis.
Responsibilities
- Buy and market grain from producers to maximize profit margins
- Develop strong relationships with producers to extend business opportunities into future years
- Monitor grades on inbound and outbound grain, along with market conditions, to inform purchasing decisions
- Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including merchandisers, logistics, accounting, facility staff, and customers
- Identify and expand new markets for grain sales
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 1-3 years of computer knowledge
- 1-3 years of experience in the grain industry
- Strong negotiation skills
- Understanding of logistics
- Excellent customer relations skills
