The DeLong Co., Inc. is seeking a skilled Commodity Procurement Manager to join their team. This role involves helping the company position its assets to maximize long-term returns by buying and marketing grain from producers, while ensuring that both parties benefit from the transaction.
About the Job
This position will require working closely with other grain divisions to coordinate marketing efforts and monitor risks associated with the futures market, freight, quality, and basis. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing strong relationships with producers to extend business opportunities into future years.
Key Responsibilities
- Buy and market grain from producers to maximize profit margins
- Develop strong relationships with producers to extend business opportunities into future years
- Monitor grades on inbound and outbound grain, along with market conditions, to inform purchasing decisions
- Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including merchandisers, logistics, accounting, facility staff, and customers
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 1-3 years of computer knowledge
- 1-3 years of experience in the grain industry
- Strong negotiation skills
- Understanding of logistics
- Excellent customer relations skills
