Grain and Feed Originator
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Grain and Feed Originator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the timely and cost-effective movement of grain and feed products from origin to destination, directly impacting our Export division. You will be responsible for sourcing, procurement, and logistical management of grain and feed products, as well as transportation of these products via rail and truck. You will work closely with suppliers, rail roads, trucking companies and the export staff to coordinate the shipment of products, optimize routes, and ensure timely delivery to various destinations.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time salaried position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Location: Clinton, WI
Pay Range: $70-$170k yearly, based on experience

Key Responsibilities:
- Sourcing and Procurement:
Identify and develop relationships with grain and feed producers/suppliers. Negotiate contracts, purchase prices, and terms.
- Logistics Coordination:
Work with railroads and transportation companies to schedule and arrange rail/truck shipments of grain and feed products. Track shipments to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
- Scheduling and Optimization:
Collaborate with rail and truck service providers to optimize loads, routes, and schedules to minimize costs and maximize transportation efficiency. Manage logistics to ensure grain and feed reach their destination promptly and safely.
- Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate records of grain and feed inventory levels at various terminals and locations. Monitor and report stock levels to ensure there is no disruption in supply or delivery.
- Market Analysis and Strategy:
Analyze market trends, grain prices, and supply-demand dynamics to inform decision-making. Adapt sourcing and transportation strategies based on market fluctuations.
- Customer Relationship Management:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, including grain elevators, ethanol, wet milling, crush facilities, and other key stakeholders. Provide exceptional customer service and support to ensure satisfaction.
- Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all shipments comply with applicable transportation and agricultural regulations, including quality standards, safety protocols, and environmental guidelines.
- Problem Resolution:
Address any operational challenges or issues that arise during the transportation process, such as delays, damage, or shortages, and work quickly to resolve them.
Required Education and Experience
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in grain and feed origination, agricultural logistics, or transportation, with at least 1-2 years of experience working with railroad operations.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of rail logistics and supply chain management.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and market trends.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and logistics management software.
- Ability to travel to various terminals, rail yards, and client locations as needed.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds on occasion.
- Office-based with frequent travel to meet with stakeholders, attend meetings, and inspect shipments.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on shipment schedules and deadlines.
