Job Overview
This is a unique opportunity to use your social work, mental health, case management, and other experience! Empower Academy is The Demand Project’s on-campus school for residents. Residents are girls ages 11-17 who are survivors of human trafficking, online enticement, child abuse imagery, and / or commercial sexual exploitation. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Aide to support our Empower Academy Educator and enhance the educational experience for students. The ideal candidate will work closely with students in various capacities, assisting with classroom activities, promoting literacy and math skills, and fostering a positive learning environment. This role is essential in helping students achieve their academic goals while ensuring their well-being and development.

Duties
- Assist Empower Educator in implementing lesson plans and educational activities.
- Support students in literacy education by encouraging reading and writing skills.
- Facilitate math learning through engaging activities and one-on-one assistance.
- Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Provide support to students with special education needs, adapting materials as necessary.
- Supervise students during breaks, lunch, and other non-classroom settings to ensure safety.
- Communicate effectively with teachers regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Participate in lesson planning meetings to contribute ideas for curriculum enhancement.
Skills
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles to support age-appropriate learning.
- Experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with literacy education strategies to promote reading proficiency.
- Ability to assist with lesson planning and adapt lessons for diverse learners.
- Proficiency in math concepts to aid student comprehension and problem-solving skills.
- Effective classroom management techniques to create a structured learning environment.
