Part Time::The Dermatology Clinic of Arkansas is searching for a Mohs Histotechnician to join our team in beautiful Hot Springs, Arkansas. We are proud to be the area's foremost skincare, laser and cosmetic practice for nearly 25 years. We have two locations in Hot Springs as well as ten satellite clinics in surrounding communities. The Histotech plays a crucial role in patient care by processing tissue samples to be read and diagnosed by the Mohs surgeon. The job entails a wide range of histology techniques including but not limited to grossing, microtomy, microscopy and staining done with a high degree of accuracy. We are seeking a candidate that has the ability to analyze, resolve, and trouble shoot day-to-day laboratory tasks as needed, as well as facilitate trouble shooting and resolution of routine technical issues. This role will assist in setting up, evaluating, and trouble shooting new techniques ,policies, and procedures and assist in the training of new lab hires.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Independently responsible for manipulation of excised tissues, inking and mapping the specimen,freezing it and preparing thin section slides using the microtome.
- Maintain good laboratory documentation, complaint with CLIA,OSHA,and individual office practices.
- Build and maintain rapport with outside accounts.
- Prepare biopsies and send out to outside labs.
- Embed tissue using cryoembedder.
- Coverslip slides, maintain daily quality assurance activities .
- Evaluate and troubleshoot cryostate instruments.
- Process, embed,section and stain issue specimens with H&E and special stains according to establish protocols.
- Maintain a clean and properly maintained work area to promote a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
Position Requirements:
- Available to work Monday-Thursday 7:30am - 5:00pm, Friday 8:00am - 2:00pm Hours may vary.
- Histotechechnician HT (ASCP) or Histoechnologist HTL (ASCP) certification preferred.
- Applicant must have a minimum of one (1) year hands on Mohs frozen section training.
