PRIMARY FUNCTION: Overnight Public Area Attendant
DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping
REPORTS TO: Housekeeping Manager
SUMMARY:
At The Dewberry, our primary focus is to become a part of our guests’ fondest memories no matter their reason for visiting. The Public Area Attendant will enhance the guests’ experience by maintaining the Dewberry’s meticulous appearance standards in tall public areas of the hotel.
The focus of this role will be to ensure the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the hotel. This role contributes to The Dewberry's success by taking control of his or her own tasks and working in a team setting to support the goals of the Housekeeping department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain established cleaning and appearance standards in the restrooms, restaurant outlets, lobby, fitness center, public hallways, Spa, conference rooms, event spaces, and other hotel areas.
- Restock the restrooms’ linens, toiletries, soap, tissue, candles, and other amenities on a continuous basis.
- Clean, disinfect, and sanitize public areas.
- Remove trash and deposit into appropriate receptacles.
- Vacuum or mop public area floors.
- Dust all furniture and fixtures.
- Wipe mirrors, windows, windowsills, walls, light switches, and countertops.
- Check and replace light bulbs as needed.
- Organize, store, and maintain all cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Ensure the cleanliness of all Housekeeping areas.
- Demonstrate superior attention to detail when inspecting public areas of the hotel.
- Respond to guest requests and ensure that all guest issues are resolved.
- Escalate guest service issues to management when needed.
- Notify the Maintenance team of damage or necessary repairs to public area fixtures, furniture, or equipment.
- Perform Room Attendant and Houseperson tasks, when necessary, in case of absence.
- Assist with any special cleaning projects as assigned by management.
- Attend daily pre-shift meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of one year of hotel/hospitality experience.
- Housekeeping experience preferred.
- Ability and willingness to work overnight shifts.
- Ability to learn how to use a handheld tablet.
- Ability to follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.
- Knowledgeable about maintaining, cleaning, and preserving a wide variety of surfaces.
- Ability to multi-task and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner with little or no supervision.
- Dependable work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Consistent punctuality, with regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to operate hand tools and cleaning equipment, and use ladders when required.
