The Senior EHS Specialist is responsible for ensuring environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance and program management at a Level 1 facility. This role provides regulatory expertise, implements EHS initiatives, and monitors facility activities to ensure adherence to regulatory and company standards. The ideal candidate will drive proactive improvements, foster a culture of safety, and support the site’s EHS management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze data to identify opportunities for proactive safety and environmental improvements.
Lead the implementation and sustainability of EHS compliance programs and management processes (ISO, OHSAS, VPP).
Develop and deploy processes to identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Conduct and lead EHS investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development for incidents, near misses, and regulatory concerns.
Manage regulatory recordkeeping, reporting, and case management for the facility.
Develop, track, and deliver EHS training for employees and stakeholders.
Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) related to EHS within the facility.
Oversee compliance for air, water, and waste management, including DOT regulations.
Ensure alignment with company-wide EHS policies and procedures.
Serve as the Emergency Response Coordinator, assisting with emergency response coordination and contractor management. This position requires on-call availability 24/7.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related EHS discipline.
- Minimum of 9 years of experience in industrial EHS activities.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC, and other safety regulations.
- Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including non-traditional shifts.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
