What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant/Medical Biller/coder position at THE DO DOCTORS?
As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office/hospital. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner. The job typically is an 8 hour shift Monday to Friday, however sometimes the office is open beyond the regular hours of 8 - 6 due to patient care not being finished yet. Instances like this requires staff to remain at the office a short time longer to fulfill the needs of the patient. In addition to this medical billing, coding, and transcribing will be part of your responsibilities. In addition health fair presentations and pop up informational stands at various locations is required. Therefore short distance same day travel is completed from time to time. This is a versatile job and if you do not have the skills to complete all of the responsibilities at time of hire training can be provided.
Responsibilities
- Front desk
- Answer phones
- Interview patients and document basic medical history
- Organize and schedule appointments
- Update and file medical records and insurance reports
- Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services
- Check with patients and type up patients charts
- Assist during medical examinations
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
- Handle receivable and payable accounts and keep financial records
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
Skills
- Proven working experience as a medical assistant or medical secretary
- Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and priorities work
- Social perceptiveness and service oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software
- Degree in medical assistance
- Spanish Speaking Preferred
