Join The Doe Fund on our mission to break the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and recidivism. Our flagship Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) program provides paid transitional work experience, transitional housing, advanced occupational training, and comprehensive supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The Doe Fund is also one of New York City’s largest nonprofit developers of permanent affordable and supportive housing, with more than 1,900 units in operation or pre-development. The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $73 million and a full-time staff of nearly 500, a significant portion of whom are graduates of our programs.
Reporting to the Vice President of Workforce Development, the position of the Director of Internal Training and Professional Development will work with leadership across departments, to create and implement employee training programs and professional development opportunities that ensure operational efficiency and alignment -- allowing the organization to make a maximum impact through cultivating its most valued resource: the employees.
This position requires travel to all three of our facilities in Brooklyn and Harlem. Hours are M – F 11 AM – 7 PM, possible weekends or later hours. This is an in-person position.

Responsibilities:
Internal Training
- Workplace Transition Training
- In coordination with the HR department, manage the participation and completion of the Workplace Transition Training for program graduates transitioning into staff roles. The program aims to aid graduates in transitioning to becoming staff members during their first 90 days of employment. Training is to be held monthly for new hires.
- Embedded Technology Initiative
- Create, oversee, and implement the phased skill-building of departments to meet current digital literacy standards in the workplace.
- The curricula will be targeted towards staff with limited digital interactions.
- Classes will run on an ongoing basis at a minimum of once a month.
- Once staff complete their phased skill-building, serve as a point of contact for all questions regarding the newly implemented technology.
- Create, oversee, and implement the phased skill-building of departments to meet current digital literacy standards in the workplace.
Professional Development
- Upskill Workshops
- Design and facilitate voluntary workshops that can be implemented via e-learning, in-person, or a hybrid model to assist employees in increasing their professional skill set or learning a new skill to assist in their career path. Workshops will be built off of TDF career pathways as well as industry standards.
- Workshops will be offered on an ongoing basis with a minimum of three per month.
- Design and facilitate voluntary workshops that can be implemented via e-learning, in-person, or a hybrid model to assist employees in increasing their professional skill set or learning a new skill to assist in their career path. Workshops will be built off of TDF career pathways as well as industry standards.
- Perform other tasks as needed
Ideal Candidate:
- You have a minimum of three years of experience working as a professional trainer.
- You have great interpersonal/organizational skills
- You are proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat
- You are highly organized, able to set and follow priorities, flexible in adjusting to changing work needs, and capable of working quickly
- You are a self-starter and a team player with excellent follow-through
- You can work in a team environment
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
