Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Manager (Dog Care) to join our team. The ideal candidates should have a passion for dogs and a willingness to learn and follow The Fear Free methodology.
As an Assistant Manager (Dog Care) at our facility in Plano, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care and management of dogs. Your primary role will be to ensure that the playrooms run smoothly and safely, boarding dogs are taken care of, and the cleaning of the facility gets done daily. You will also be expected to supervise one of the playrooms during your day. We need you to provide training to all of the dog handlers on proper protocols related to providing supervision, training, socialization, and physical activity for the dogs in our care. You will work closely with a team of professionals to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all dogs and ensure they have a positive experience.
This position will have an opportunity to move into a Dog Care Manager role. You will report to the General manager.
Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work weekends and holidays! Also need to be on your feet for extended periods of time. We would love someone who is willing to assist the dogs in social media videos!
Responsibilities:
- Train and supervise the dog handlers as they execute daily play sessions to improve and maintain agility and socialization skills
- Handle dogs in daycare and boarding in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Monitor dog behavior and health, ensuring any concerns are promptly addressed and communicated to the Manager and pet owners
- Provide direct care for dogs, including feeding, playtime and administering medications as needed
- Ensure dogs' physical and mental safety in their environment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility, ensuring all safety and sanitation protocols are followed
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of socialization progress, health checks, and any incidents or concerns observed
- All other duties as assigned
- Run the front of house from time to time
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork and open communication among staff.
Requirements:
- A positive attitude and ability to get along well with others
- Ability and willingness to stand and walk for the vast majority of your shift
- Weekend and holiday availability
- Deep knowledge and understanding of various dog breeds, their temperaments, and behavior patterns is beneficial but not required (we have training for this)
- Ability to handle and control dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with dog owners and team members
- Physical stamina and strength to handle dogs of various sizes
