The Doggie Retreat, LLC is a dog daycare and grooming facility located in Kettering, Ohio. We are currently looking for mature part-time dog daycare staff to join our team. We are seeking dog-lovers who are team-oriented with a positive attitude.

A Dog Daycare Attendant is responsible for the supervision, control, and management of daycare dogs, ensuring the safety of our 4-legged customers. Role also involves some customer interactions and cleaning of the play area.

Job Duties:

Dog Play Area:

• Interact with dogs and monitor the overall activities of dogs within the social play environment
• Control levels of play, ensuring safety of dogs, observe behavior and body language, and when necessary, intervene by redirecting play or removing a dog(s) for a short period of time; notify leader and manager of any issues
• Maintain visual observation of dogs at all times and spread your attention among all dogs in the daycare
• Use proper dog handling techniques, praise and correction methods as approved by management
• Quickly be able to identify (name) all dogs in the daycare; spending time getting to know new dogs and their character
• Report any unusual dog behavior, illness, and/or injuries immediately to management
• Communicate with staff that relieves you of any unusual behaviors or concerns you have managed or visualized during your shift

Office Duties:

• Greet customers in morning and work with team member to move dogs safely into the daycare; store leaches in assigned bins and ensure all doors are properly closed
• End of day, return dogs with their leaches to the lobby for departure with owner
• Utilize the computer to check in or out the dogs as they come and go
• Assist the answering of phones if receptionist unavailable
• Learn to handle a payment and run credit cards if needed
• Copy items such as shot records for customers when asked

Cleaning Duties:

• Complete general cleaning duties during the day and at the end of the day as assigned
• Scoop dog waste immediately and dispose of it in designated container
• Mop up inside accidents immediately
• Maintain water bowls and dog beds, cleaning periodically during and at end of day
• Dust and mop, sanitizing floors as assigned
• Gather trash from various containers and dispose
• Disinfect inside and outside area; mixing and using disinfectants and other chemicals safely as instructed
• Assist with washing, drying and folding of grooming towels and those used in daycare

Education: High School graduate or equivalent

Other Qualifications:

• All experience with dogs is an asset
• Must be comfortable around multiple dogs of all sizes and physically able to handle
• Good oral communication skills, treating customers and co-workers in a professional courteous manner
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Other valuable traits -- able to follow instructions, adapt to environment, be dependable, punctual, flexible and have reliable transportation
• Must be able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing and grasping
• Able to work in various temperatures including some time outside to monitor, play and clean up after dogs

Scheduling: 2-3 shifts a week

Morning shifts are 7:00 am to 12:30 pm

Afternoon shifts are 12:30 pm to 6:00 pm

Saturday shifts are 8:00 am to Noon and Noon to 4:00 pm

Sunday and Holiday for Boarding only

Pay: $12 an hour to start
