Key Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
- Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process and systems enhancement
- Manage and improve organizational efficiency across Finance, IT, Communications, Graphics, HR, and Facilities departments to help ensure and sustain organizational impact, sustainability, and growth
- Implement business strategies and plans that align with the short and long term plans developed in collaboration with the Executive Director and approved by the Board
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board leadership to continuously develop resources, public brand identity, staff, and member engagement
- Collaborate with and supervise department heads to develop and implement strategies that strengthen internal systems, enhance staff development, and improve workflows. This includes optimizing HR practices to foster a high-performing, mission-driven team, allowing the Executive Director to focus on programming and fundraising
- Provide strategic leadership in financial planning, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability. The COO will oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and resource allocation to ensure fiscal responsibility and mission alignment. Working closely with the Vice President for Finance and Executive Director, the COO will drive data-informed decision-making, optimize revenue streams, and strengthen financial resilience to support the organization’s growth and impact
- Oversee projects to upgrade/implement software solutions to more effectively manage the Ebell’s operations in Finance, HR, Payroll, Membership, and Donor Management
- Work closely with the Owner’s Representative and The Ebell core team and consultants to understand and coordinate retrofit activities and The Ebell’s operational activities
- Begin to identify offsite venues/options to sustain The Ebell’s programming during the anticipated two-year campus closure for construction
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors, key committees and task forces, and Executive Leadership to provide updates and maintain alignment on organizational and project goals
- Serve as a liaison between internal departments, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on goals
- Provide leadership and support for The Ebell’s staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and mission-driven work environment
- Support the implementation of strategic initiatives that advance The Ebell’s mission, including community engagement and cultural programming
- Five or more years of experience in executive leadership roles
- Proven experience in operations management, nonprofit arts and culture leadership, building and facilities management and/or project management
- Expertise in financial management, budget management, compliance, and strategic planning
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively including the philanthropic community, board leaders and community members
- Familiarity with large-scale capital projects
- A degree or leadership training in business administration, nonprofit management, financial management, or a related field is preferred
