What are the responsibilities and job description for the DESE/DDS Family Navigator position at The Edinburg Center?
Provide DESE/DDS Family Navigation services to youth and their families in Metro West Boston and Northeast areas of Massachusetts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA in a Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or approved human service related field and one (1) year of relevant direct experience working with families and youth with serious emotional and behavioral challenges or autism, OR
- Associate's degree and a minimum of two (2) years relevant direct experience with families and youth with serious emotional and behavioral challenges and autism, OR
- At least one (3) year experience utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis in a therapeutic setting
- Knowledgeable about public benefits, entitlements, and generic resources available in the geographical areas they cover.
- Experience working in the Human Services field and/or experience working with families and adults with intellectual disabilities
- Highly organized
- Proficient with Microsoft word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills; team player
- Valid driver's license, ability to meet safe driving requirements and reliable transportation
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducting home-visits to meet with families
- Assisting families with assigning budget categories to already determined annual budgets in accordance with DDS guidelines.
- Workup and submittal of budgets to DDS for approval
- Preparation of goals for home support/training
- Document, track and update family spending against budget categories
- Processing payments and reimbursements for families using online banking
- Modification of budgets as needed per DDS approval
- Monitor/supervision of the home program through contacts with family and staff as needed
- Performing family navigation duties by assisting families with locating appropriate services and resources for their child
- Staff recruitment, hiring and onboarding
- Preparation of annual mid and end of year progress reports and budgets for DDS
- Updating DDS on pertinent issues as needed
- Attending regional and local DESE/DDS provider meetings
- Maintaining regular communication and working collaboratively with applicable DDS Area Offices
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comply with Mass Health, insurance, and The Edinburg Center policies and procedures
- Submit administrative/electronic health records paperwork accurately and on time (Evolv progress notes, ADP, Bill Checks, monthly mileage, bill checks, etc)
- Maintain all required documentation for self and collateral contacts in all client records.
- Complete all required insurance billing processes
- Attend all staff meetings or complete all staff meeting requirements
