Summary: Sets up and operates power brake to bend, notch, punch, form rolls, arc, or straighten metal plates or sheet metal and structural shapes to blueprint or work order traveler specifications by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Sets up machine according to Resource Instructions to perform required operation as specified on work order traveler document or blueprint using proper tooling.
Selects, positions, and aligns dies in machine ram and bed. Positions or repositions backstop as required.
Turns set screws or bolts to fasten clamp bar that holds dies in position.
Turns adjustment screws to set specified pressure of ram and clearance between dies to thickness of metal, as indicated by calibrated scale or feelers.
Lays out or details layout on work stock from blueprints or templates.
Positions work piece manually or with crane, to align work piece to backstops.
Starts machine to lower ram or depresses pedal to activate ram that bends or cuts metal.
Sets stops on machine bed and repositions stock to run successive pieces, or to perform multiple operations.
Verifies dimensions of work piece.
Grinds laps or burrs from edges of work piece.
Devises and builds temporary dies.

Education and/or Experience:

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
