Activities Coordinator / Director
The Elizabeth Scott Community, a 5-star, family-owned, multiple level healthcare facility in Maumee, is looking for an full time Activities Coordinator/Director to work in our 46-bed long-term care unit.
The Activities Coordinator / Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging recreational and therapeutic activities for residents in a senior care environment. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for individuals in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and memory care units. The Activities Coordinator / Director will work closely with residents, families, and staff to create a vibrant community atmosphere that promotes social interaction and emotional well-being.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets the diverse needs and interests of residents.
- Coordinate recreational therapy sessions that promote physical, mental, and social engagement.
- Assess residents' interests and abilities to tailor activities accordingly.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and social workers to ensure activities align with individual care plans.
- Facilitate group activities such as arts and crafts, games, music therapy, and outings.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities.
- Train and supervise volunteers or activity assistants to assist with programs.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding upcoming events and activities.
- Address any aging issues counseling needs by providing support or referrals as necessary.
Qualifications
- Experience in senior care settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities is preferred.
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is required.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents of varying cognitive abilities.
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling to support residents' emotional well-being.
- Ability to plan and execute engaging programs that cater to the interests of seniors.
- Compassionate attitude towards elderly individuals with a focus on enhancing their quality of life.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
