Job Title: Structural Steel Estimator
Location: Irving, Texas 75063
Pay: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Structural Steel Estimator to join our team in Irving, Texas. This office-based position involves preparing accurate estimates for structural steel components, ensuring that all project specifications are met with precision. As a key player on the estimating team, you will report directly to the Chief Estimator and collaborate with other team members to produce comprehensive take-off estimates for a variety of structural steel projects.
Key responsibilities include executing computer-aided and manual take-offs, developing supporting documentation, and reviewing vendor and sub-tier quotes for scope compliance. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing estimate summaries, identifying key requirements such as buy-out items, and supporting the training of Estimators in Training (EITs) to help develop the next generation of professionals in the field.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a solid background in structural steel, construction, and estimating, who thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Must-Haves / Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the structural steel industry in a similar role, with a strong understanding of the fabrication and erection processes.
- A deep knowledge of steel fabrication and steel erection means and methods.
- Proven track record in construction experience.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with contract drawings and specifications, and reviewing information related to structural steel components.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, Microsoft Outlook, and Office Suite.
- BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (preferred but not mandatory).
Summary:
This position requires an individual with significant experience in structural steel estimation who can effectively manage the estimating process for steel fabrication and erection projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of construction means and methods, a solid grasp of contract documentation, and experience mentoring junior estimators.
