Qualifications: Must have a valid NC Driver License, and dependable transportation. Must be willing to transport Individuals in your personal vehicle. Must be willing to work in a group setting with Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
Position Overview:
The Creative Arts Theatre Pod Leader will facilitate an engaging and inclusive theatre program for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This role focuses on empowering participants through creative expression, fostering social skills, and enhancing self-confidence in a supportive environment. The Pod Leader will lead creative workshops, coordinate performances, and collaborate with a team to ensure a positive and enriching experience for all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development:
- Design and implement creative arts programs tailored to the abilities and interests of participants.
- Develop lesson plans that incorporate elements of drama, movement, and visual arts.
- Facilitation:
- Lead engaging theatre sessions, focusing on storytelling, improvisation, character development, and performance skills.
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment that encourages creativity and self-expression.
- Participant Support:
- Assess the individual needs and capabilities of each participant to provide personalized support and encouragement.
- Build positive relationships with participants, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
- Performance Coordination:
- Organize and oversee theatre performances, including rehearsals, set design, and stage management.
- Collaborate with participants to develop scripts and performance pieces that highlight their talents.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with staff, volunteers, and caregivers to ensure a holistic approach to participant development.
- Attend team meetings to share progress, ideas, and feedback.
- Community Engagement:
- Promote the theatre program within the community and seek opportunities for collaboration and partnership.
- Organize events to showcase participants’ work and increase awareness of their abilities.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Arts Education, Special Education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities in a creative or educational setting.
- Strong background in theatre arts, including performance, directing, and workshop facilitation.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Personal Attributes:
- Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about creative arts.
- Creative thinker with a passion for empowering others through the arts.
Additional Requirements:
- Background check clearance.
- First aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Flexible schedule, including availability for evening events.
Compensation:
- $16 hourly
