Upper School Mathematics Teacher

The PositionThe Episcopal Academy is seeking a dynamic upper school math teacher dedicated to creating classroom environments defined by high levels of student engagement and intellectual rigor. Responsibilities include teaching four sections of upper school mathematics courses, serving as an advisor to a small group of students, actively participating in school life, and collaborating with a team of experienced mathematics educators across grades 6-12.

About You Successful candidates for this position will possess:

  • A proven record of planning and delivering a robust, engaging upper school mathematics curriculum.
  • Experience in providing consistent, high-quality instruction and mentorship to high school students.
  • A commitment to maintaining open and positive communication with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • A collaborative mindset, actively seeking opportunities to contribute to a high-functioning team.
  • A passion for staying current with educational research and modern pedagogy, particularly within upper school mathematics.
  • The ability to design math instruction that emphasizes real-world application while grounding students in strong theoretical understanding.
  • Expertise in challenging students to extend beyond procedural fluency, fostering deep conceptual understanding and analytical skills.
  • Experience teaching various levels of upper school mathematics, ranging from Algebra I - Calculus and Statistics.

Qualifications Potential candidates should be aware of the following expectations related to training and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or a related field (required).
  • Master's Degree in Mathematics or a related field (preferred).
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience in secondary school is preferred, although candidates with a range of experiences are encouraged to apply.
  • While this role is focused on our Upper School department, the new hire will join a dynamic team serving grades 6-12, and should be well-versed in the middle and high school mathematics curriculum.
