Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Banquet Captain to join our team. This individual will be responsible for directing the setup, preparation, and execution of banquet functions. They will oversee the performance of all banquet food and beverage servers and housepersons, serving as the personal representative of The Equinox Resort to banquet guests.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Setting up functions by draping tables, setting silverware, folding napkins, preparing drinks, and placing table centerpieces.
- Serving food and beverages to guests, removing dishes, glasses, silverware, or other items from tables/countertops, and taking them to the kitchen and/or dishroom/station.
- Clearing, cleaning, and sanitizing tables and/or counters & seats after guests are finished.
- Explaining how various menu items are prepared, cooking methods, and ingredients.
- Knowledgeable of all service-related aspects of BEO as related to guests' dietary requests and restrictions, sharing this knowledge with the banquet team.
- Providing accurate resort information about offerings, events, amenities, and other services.
- Ensuring final quality checks on food and beverage items prior to serving guests.
- Monitoring assigned tables for customer satisfaction, quality, and additional needs.
- Addressing any guest issues promptly and with a sense of urgency.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- 2-4 years of experience in food service, preferably in a leadership position in banquet service.
- A proactive and collaborative mindset, with a focus on exceeding guest needs.
- Experience working in a 4-star or 5-star venue with synchronized service.
- Knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits.
- The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- A passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests.
- Excellent communication skills.
