Barrister’s at the Esquire Hotel in downtown Gastonia is looking for a candidate who is motivated by excellence, creativity, team building, and growth. This person should be organized and self-motivated, as well as possess strong social skills and emotional intelligence.
You will work in collaboration with a highly supportive management, culinary, and ownership team to execute both dining room service as well as high-value private events. We are a growing business looking for a dynamic hospitality-driven individual to join our team in a management and leadership role. Although this role will start as a hybrid position with some hours each week being devoted to both dining room management, and other hours to events, there is the possibility to grow into a dedicated position in the future, depending on where your strengths lie.
This is a salaried position with additional commission based on event sales. Expected weekly work hours are approximately 40, but with the understanding of the importance of timely communication and task completion. Each week you will be expected to manage the dining room dinner service a minimum of 3 nights but not more than 5. Additionally, you will be expected to be present for all major events.
Although this position inherently requires many nights and frequent weekends, we are closed on Sundays and major holidays and strive to support a healthy work-life balance on our team. We do not expect you to be reachable 24 hours a day, but generally responsive during normal hospitality business hours. We do our best to respect each other’s time off.

Desirable Qualifying Characteristics:
Restaurant experience, preferably upscale service leadership or training role - 5 years
Restaurant management experience highly preferred
Event service experience - 2 years
Event planning and execution experience highly preferred
Sales experience preferred
Written and spoken proficiency in English, any additional languages are a plus
Astute attention to detail
