Overview: The Director, Retail Education, Aveda, will lead the execution of retail and front desk team education strategies in North America to support sales targets and elevate guest experiences. This position oversees Regional Field Education Specialists, translating Aveda’s education strategy into actionable programs while fostering team development, innovation, and a commitment to Aveda’s mission.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000.00 to $180,000.00. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. This position oversees Regional Field Education Specialists, translating Aveda’s education strategy into actionable programs while fostering team development, innovation, and a commitment to Aveda’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management:
- Lead and develop Regional Field Education Specialists to ensure excellence in execution, including upskilling, ongoing training and effective booking
- Ensure Aveda educators participate in train-the-trainer events to maintain technical, presentation, and service delivery standards.
- Participate in Aveda’s education strategy development as representative of the retail channel to ensure most effective content and execution planning are included to meet business objectives.
- Lead the rollout of education curricula, including product knowledge, point-of-sale workshops, accreditation, and salon front desk skills training.
- Develop retail content and programming for store managers, retail advisors, salon owners/managers, service providers and front desk teams
- Develop unique education assets and tools for specialty multi-retailers, enhancing in-store engagement.
- Partner with Sales and Education teams to identify growth opportunities across retail, salon and Institute channels and implement appropriate education programs and resources to meet needs
- Work with Brand Marketing and Aveda Education to create and execute impactful launch activities.
- Support Aveda Institutes with retail education programs that reflect Aveda’s mission standards for service excellence
- Partner with internal stakeholders, store managers and distributor representatives to gauge team effectiveness and opportunities for team skill-building. Work in with Aveda Education team to calendarize development and launch timelines.
- Partner with education development teams to create ownable in-store and in-salon guest experiences
- Measure the impact of education programs at the point of sale and ensure a strong return on investment.
- Develop and maintain strong metrics and reporting to track and measure progress against education team goals.
- Manage and achieve annual retail education budgets, including T&E and program execution, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Cosmetology License preferred.
- 5 years of progressive experience in education within a store, salon, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing and inspiring creative teams.
- Proven ability to execute strategic education plans that drive sales results.
- Expertise in curriculum development, with a strong understanding of digital education platforms.
- Knowledge of the beauty industry and competitive landscape.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to drive results through strategic planning.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation abilities.
