What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortgage Loan Assistant position at THE EVANGELINE BANK & TRUST COMPANY?
The Mortgage Loan Assistant will support and assist the Mortgage Loan Officer with preparing, analyzing, and verifying mortgage loan applications for the purchase or refinance of real estate.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and prepare documentation necessary for verifications and underwriting such as loan files, loan packages, credit reports, and all additional necessary application paperwork
- Gather, review and calculate income for pre-approval
- Verify all loan package documentation received is accurate and complete in accordance with company policy, regulatory compliance, investor guidelines and procedures.
- Coordinate loan process while working closely with all parties involved in the transaction (originator, underwriter, closer, etc).
- Review and clear all underwriting conditions prior to closing.
- Provide customer service by answering all inquiries in a timely manner.
- Assist with making and screening calls, scheduling appointments, etc.
- Coordinate all follow up items.
- Monitor the status of loan applications and update the borrowers and team members accordingly.
- Other duties assigned by Loan Officer.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Veterans Affairs (VA), Federal National Mortgage (Fannie Mae), and other types of construction and conventional loans.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Must be able to multi-task.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in banking preferred
- Knowledge of mortgage processing and/or loan originating is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and standing
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
