Job Qualifications
Six years of corporate retail buying/planning, allocation and inventory experience to include formulation, analysis, evaluation or other substantive determination related to marketing, purchasing and/or sales projections is required. A specified area of buying experience may be preferred by the hiring manager. At least one year of supervisory experience is required. One year of experience at the pay band 4-2/4-3 level or equivalent industry experience is required.
Or
Bachelor's degree plus four years of corporate retail buying/planning, allocation and inventory experience to include formulation, analysis, evaluation or other substantive determination related to marketing, purchasing and/or sales projections is required. A specified area of buying experience may be preferred by the hiring manager. At least one year of supervisory experience is required. One year of experience at the pay band 4-2/4-3 level or equivalent industry experience is required.

Major Duties
Selects reliable sources of supply, evaluates quality, negotiates contracts, services and prices product. Directs buyers in merchandising activities and management of vendor performance.
Manages the detailed analysis of trends, sales and economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns and develop annual and seasonal category assortments.
Oversees financial performance through proven exit and pricing strategies (regular, promo, clearance). Summarizes and communicates merchandising information.
Identifies and recommends new products and business opportunities. Negotiates product availability, specifications, distribution, delivery and price.
Manages, develops and reviews the work of other buyers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
