A pharmaceutical company in Illinois has a great Remote opportunity awaiting a new Bioinformatics Analyst with their Biologics Science & Technology Group.
Responsibilities:
The Bioinformatics Analyst (Remote) will be responsible for all aspects of bioinformatics analysis for transcriptomics and other specialized NGS experiments including quality control, differential gene expression, and pathway enrichment.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of related work experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Bioinformatics and/or Biostatistics; or, 2 years of applicable experience with a Master's Degree in Bioinformatics and/or Biostatistics
- Proficient in using R to do basic Data Analysis (processing, plotting…)
- Differential Gene Expression Statistical Testing
- Comfortable working in Linux/Unix environment, including job submission using High Performance Computing cluster (HPC)
- comfortable working with NGS data (mostly Illumina short read technology)
- Experience with NGS and Gene Expression Analysis
- Familiar with the core file formats and tools, such as FASTQ, SAM, BAM, read mapping algorithms, differential gene expression tools, etc.
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with Chinese Hamster Ovary genomics analysis or cell line development
- Experience with gene ontology and pathway enrichment analysis
- Experience with Targeted Locus Amplification analysis (TLA)
- Basic understanding of machine learning and predictive modeling
- Experience with Limma and/or Dream for differential gene expression analysis with linear mixed models
